Bodies as Currency: How Somatic Narcissists Trade Appearance for Power
By Festus Joe Addai
For the somatic narcissist, the body is a transaction. Every compliment received, favor granted, opportunity opened, or relationship gained is seen as an exchange where their physical allure is the currency.
"Where you see connection, they see transaction."
The Power of Physical Appearance in Their World
In the mind of the somatic narcissist, beauty, fitness, sex appeal, or public desirability are tools — strategic resources to be leveraged for dominance and advantage.
- Access to High-Value Targets: Using their looks to infiltrate elite circles or gain proximity to influential people.
- Social Mobility Through Seduction: Advancing careers, opportunities, or status by exploiting attraction dynamics.
- Attention as a Drug: Treating validation, compliments, and sexual attention as proof of personal power and superiority.
The Emotional Cost to Their Victims
Victims often feel used, discarded, or emotionally bankrupt after entanglement with a somatic narcissist because:
- They were valued for how they enhanced the narcissist's image, not for who they were inside.
- They were paraded when convenient — and abandoned when no longer beneficial.
- The emotional bond was one-sided: transactional for the narcissist, transformative for the victim.
"You were never loved — you were leased until your value expired."
Signs You’re Being Traded, Not Treasured
Watch for patterns like:
- Sudden public displays of affection when an audience is present — and coldness in private.
- Pressure to maintain appearance, desirability, or status for their benefit.
- Being strategically introduced or hidden based on how you boost their image.
Refusing to Be a Commodity
Freedom begins when you realize your worth is not determined by who finds you desirable. You are not a prop. You are not a transaction. You are a sovereign being — not a stage piece in someone else’s performance.
Refuse to be currency in anyone’s economy of self-worship.
